On Saturday the 29th of October, 2016 Hundreds of thousands of people from around the world will stand united in eye contact.

South Africa has joined 35 other countries and more than 156 other cities in a global eye contact experience to raise awareness about peace and humanness.

In the hustle and bustle of our city lives, our humanity and greater sense of connection is often compromised.

When last did you take a breath, slow down and connect with a stranger? When last did you look up from your phone and smile at someone?

Well now you can take a moment to reconnect to the greater scheme of existence and be part of The World’s Biggest Eye Contact experiment.

In 2015, the global event, with The Liberators International, involved more than 100,000 people from over 156 different cities.

“Human connection is so deeply hidden in our society at time. But it still lives in the heart of every human being. This is such a friendly and peaceful opportunity to invite people to bring it back.” – Frank Melchior, Sheffield, UK Host

And this is the first time that Johannesburg and Cape Town are taking part – let’s play our part!

By taking part, you’ll create an opportunity for the humans of Johannesburg to reconnect with our shared humanity, help spread a global message of peace, and invite good vibes into your inner world.

How it works:

  1. Sign up to participate and donate (optional) here
  2. Show up at the venue on the day.
  3. When you arrive, you will see clear signs that say: “Where has the human connection gone? Share 1 minute of eye contact to find out…”
  4. Find a stranger in the space and share one minute of silent eye contact with them (sitting or standing).
  5. You can share as many moments as you want with many strangers or you can pop in to try it out.

When & Where?

The location will be announced by the 25th of October via email. IMPORTANT: Please ensure that you register as this allows us to have a headcount and communicate any last minute details to you.
