A couple in Florida woke up to see a huge alligator floating in their private pool.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Department responded to the call Friday night about the 11-foot alligator and posted photos and video online of the massive home intruder.

Patricia Carver and her husband were woken up by strange noises from the pool room at their home in Calusa Lakes, Florida. Her husband poked her head around the curtain and saw the humongous creature in the pool.

She told local press: “He opened the curtain and saw the head of a gator and said, call 911, call 911!”

Officers from the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office attended the scene and live-tweeted their struggles to get the 11ft animal out of the pool.

The officers were unsure how the gator got into the swimming pool, which is completely screened in and after a brief struggle, deputies and a trapper managed to remove it.

While most people around the world are freaking out about seeing an 11-foot alligator in their pool, the department says it was just another day in Florida.
