As they strive to secure their own permanent premises, Shalom Animal Rescue Centre calls upon the public to join their mission and help create a brighter future for the animals in their care.
Glaudina, South Africa (19 September 2024) – Shalom Animal Rescue Centre is a pro-life animal shelter nestled in the heart of South Africa’s North West province, born out of the great need for animal welfare in the province.
With the nearest SPCA being 250km away and rife poverty, animal neglect and uncontrolled breeding in the area, Shalom Animal Rescue in the small rural town of Glaudina offers a lifeline to many animals in need.
Animals have no voice, and without the hard work, sacrifice and dedication of real-life angels like Joan Nel, founder and owner of Shalom Animal Rescue Centre, and her team in Glaudina, so many animals would have no chance at all.
The rescue centre has been on its current premises for many years but is in dire need of its own premises and place to call home.
They have found the perfect smallholding with ample space for all the animals and their carers and are raising funds to purchase it. With no other help for these animals within the next 250km, the situation is extremely urgent.
The farm is rented, and the organisation would dearly like to have its own permanent premises, for which they are fundraising.
Shalom receives no government funding and sees to all animals, domestic or wild, in Glaudina and surrounds.
The team of volunteers work tirelessly to rescue abandoned, neglected, injured, and abused animals, often foregoing their own needs, to feed, re-home, rehabilitate and rescue animals in need.
Unwanted and rescued animals find their way to Shalom Animal Rescue Centre’s farm, which is currently home to several dogs, cats, horses, cows, chickens, a rabbit and a donkey.
Here, the animals are given love and care until they’re ready to find their forever homes or, in the case of those who cannot be rehomed, a safe place to live out their lives.
Now desperate for its own premises to provide a sanctuary for the many helpless animals that come their way, the Shalom Animal Rescue volunteers are appealing to the public to help make this dream a reality.
