Parts of Johannesburg, Erkuhuleni and Tshwane have seen the first big storm of the season and it has set social media alight.
The rainy season has officially kicked in and started causing havoc this afternoon in and around Johannesburg with cars stuck in traffic and some submerged on several city roads and highways.
South Africans across the country have been shocked by images of cars, houses and small businesses wrecked by the rushing water.
Motorists in peak traffic have been sharing images of the storm on social media, reporting of the severe flooding in many areas while social media users have been sharing pictures of the large pieces of hail that had fallen, cables being blown over and gardens blanketed in the icy hail.
