Khuli Chana a South African Musician took time to hear the amazing story of Misha Teasdale who is replanting the South African forests one tree at a time.
Misha Teasdale is behind the Greenpop social enterprise, founded in 2010 while he was a producer, which aims to replenish the trees within the forests and communities of South Africa. Working with the community they plan to plant thousands of trees in underdeveloped areas and start a lasting reforestation programme.
They offer people the opportunity to buy a tree and get their hands dirty in a community that needs more trees.
The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The next best time is now. – African Proverb
Misha was invited to appear in a documentary by Red Bull called ‘The Rise of Us’ and he was interviewed by Khuli Chana, a local musician. The pair discussed all that Grenpop does for forests and how people can get involved. Misha ends his interview with some powerful words we should all really consider!
“One day, we’re all gonna die. You’re not gonna think to yourself, “Did I have a bank full of money?”, “Did I get to the end of my list?” You’re not gonna think about those. What you’re gonna think about is, did I have significant relationships with the people in my community? Did I add more than I subtracted? Did I have purpose?”
Those are some pretty profound thoughts! To watch the full documentary click here.
