Msunduzi Municipality Bessie Head Library Services celebrated eco-friendly fashion while embracing diversity as special needs learners showcased their creativity.
Pietermaritzburg, South Africa (13 September 2024) – Paper, old boxes, plastic bags, takeaway containers and chip packets were transformed into marvellous designs and showstopping outfits by talented learners from schools within Msunduzi Municipality.
Waste was reduced in a fun and fashionable way when the Msunduzi Municipality Bessie Head Library Services, in collaboration with various stakeholders, hosted a trashion show this week at the library garden in honour of preserving our precious environment.
The event was a dazzling display of upcycled fashion and inclusivity took centre stage, with special schools from across Msunduzi collaborating to create breathtaking designs from recycled materials.
“The event highlighted the joy of teamwork and the fusion of eco-friendly fashion, proving that when we unite for a meaningful cause, individual talents shine even brighter,” Msunduzi Municipality said.
The learners’ creativity was awarded with certificates and trophies at a prize giving, honouring their exceptional designs and commitment to sustainability.
The event demonstrated how eco-friendly practices, inclusivity, and artistic expression can have a positive impact on our community and the environment!
