straws

Single-use straws are so last season! RocoMamas Umhlanga is yet another restaurant franchise kicking the bad-habit and will be refusing to offer anyone a single-use straw.

RocoMamas in Umhlanga has taken up the initiative to stop providing single-use plastic straws. This is a major win for the environment. If you have ever been to the burger joint, you will know that they are famous for their smash burgers and milkshakes.

Nobody can drink a milkshake without a straw but the branch has done lots of research and has invested in some biodegradable straws.

The initiative was started by the branch and head office is backing them up big time! They are even looking to roll this initiative out to all the other branches across South Africa.

The ‘Refuse The Straw” campaign has been doing phenomenally well across the globe and millions of people have gotten on board with the idea. There are all kinds of alternatives individuals can purchase as well. In 2017, we shared a story about a South African company selling reusable straws. The Good Things Guy team even made the switch by using only stainless-steel straws.

Changes are making waves and we wholeheartedly support them! Kudos to RocoMamas Umhlanga for taking the first step.

“Join RocoMamas Umhlanga in saving the world’s oceans! This is the final straw and we’ve kicked out all the straws at our joint! #RefuseTheStraw is a smashing international movement to help our planet rid itself of plastic!”
