Talitha Noble-Trull is a dedicated conservationist at the Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation who is at the forefront of the battle to save sea turtles.
Cape Town, South Africa (06 August 2024) – Turtles play a vital role in maintaining the health of marine ecosystems and are undoubtedly one of the ocean’s most iconic creatures.
The Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation’s very own “guardian of the turtles”, Talitha Noble-Trull, Conservation Manager at the Turtle Conservation Centre, is doing remarkable work in caring for these precious sea creatures.
According to the foundation, no day is typical for Talitha, but a good day includes spending time with the rest of the turtle team, dive-feeding one of the turtles in the I&J Ocean Exhibit, and working on the development of the new turtle hospital!
“Turtle conservation points to the strong need for ocean conservation. It is not enough to deal with the symptom (a sick, stranded turtle), we need to deal with the cause: An unhealthy ocean that is the home for many creatures and a life source for humans,” says Talitha.
According to the Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation, the odds are stacked against sea turtles. In the wild, only one or two out of every 1,000 hatchlings survive to adulthood. Climate change, pollution, and other human-caused threats have made this even more challenging.
Unsung heroes such as Talitha at the Turtle Conservation Centre are dedicated to reversing this trend by protecting these ocean treasures and tirelessly working to boost their populations worldwide.
