Patricia Levarelli is a bunny with a big heart! She earned this title after sporting a full Easter Bunny costume complete with ears, a fluffy tail, and a basket, sharing eggs and spreading smiles to seniors – many of whom often find themselves alone on special holidays.
Durban, South Africa (24 April 2025) – One of our readers has left us with the widest of smiles after sharing how her mother and resident of Pinehaven Retirement Village, Patricia Levarelli, went out of her way to cheer up the lives of the elderly this past Easter Sunday.
Although daughter Claudia Levarelli initially considered disowning her 74-year-old mommy dearest upon discovering that she’d decided to dress up like the Easter Bunny for the day, that thought quickly went out the window when she saw the joy it brought to all the other oumas and oupas.
Patricia, who also happens to be the retirement village’s chairlady and head of entertainment, put on quite a show as she did her rounds to all the elderly folk while sporting bunny ears, a fluffy tail, a leotard and a basket in hand, while delivering Easter eggs.
Despite mixed feelings of humour and slight embarrassment, Claudia was mostly touched by her playful mom’s antics, and they made a difference in the lives of oldies who long for love and joy to fill their days.
“I had to share this story about my mother,” Claudia tells us.
“Mom, I take my hat off to you, well done for bringing a smile and cheer to some of the folk, who often on a day like today wouldn’t have any visitors. So many of our elderly are left alone on special holidays and I am sure you brought a good chuckle to many,” she heartwarmingly shared in a related post.
