Accident Uber

An Uber driver in Cape Town has created his own catchy song to keep passengers entertained while driving with him.

Meet 32-year-old Edington Mushanyuri or “Big Master” as he is popularly known by his fans. Edington is a Cape Town Uber driver-partner well known for his loud infectious laughter who recently came to fame after composing a three-minute Uber themed song.

The song has racked up 11,000 hits on YouTube since being uploaded. His music can be classified into various genres such as Reggae, Jazz, as well as Gospel.

From music and acting to being a successful businessman, Edington’s hunger for success stems from the fact that he wants to provide for his wife and six-year-old son. He signed up to Uber three years ago for its flexibility benefits which allowed him to pursue his musical and acting career while earning an income.

“95% of my riders love the song” says Edington.

“I want to represent Uber drivers in Cape Town as well as in South Africa at large for the good work that they do.”

He enjoys the company of his riders and he always aims to make their experience memorable by playing the type of music that they enjoy. In addition to this, Edington also encourages riders to play their own music. His ambition is to one day be a well-known musician and actor across the African continent and have more cars on the Uber app to increase his income.

Uber’s General Manager for sub-Saharan Africa, Alon Lits, called the song “creative and celebratory” and we are honoured that there are so many talented and diverse driver-partners that use the Uber app across South Africa.”

Edington’s love from music started when he worked as a bouncer in a Cape Town club where he looked after musicians that were booked to perform. He explains that he often thought he could sing much better than the artists he would hear singing.

Although Edington is no longer involved in the club scene as a bouncer, he has not completely left the night club life scene as he now employs bouncers to look after artists at clubs under his small security company.

Edington can also be described as a man of many talents, as he will be starring in an upcoming South African movie called Scorpion Kings, which will be released later this month.

Listen to the song below & tell us what you think of it in the comments… would you give this driver 5 stars for his enthusiasm?
