Christmas ad

Tesco’s Christmas ad is the most relatable thing for any family spending the festive period together. It pokes fun at your mom, who tells the same story every year. Your overly opinionated uncle, who makes things awkward. And remarkably, the fact that your sibling will still hiss at you through clenched teeth like a proper lunatic, when pushed far enough…LOL!

South Africa (4 December 2025) – We talk a lot about how magical the festive season is. The gees, the warmth, food, the little traditions we love.

But there’s another side we all just accept as part of the Christmas package. And that’s the madness of spending extended time with our families.

Let’s be real for a moment, friends…

Nothing will test the structural integrity of your holiday vibes like a three-day debate about how crispy the roast potatoes should be. Or the annual feud over who moved the remote. Or the tannie who insists on retelling the same story slightly louder each year. Or the uncle that farts and burps everywhere.

Then there’s the eye rolls that could power the whole country’s grid. The whispered “Can you PLEASE just behave?” warnings, and the cousins who revert to their 2009 rivalry before anyone’s even managed to have a drink.

The thing is, as maddening, dramatic, or petty as these moments are, they’re part of the Christmas magic. The arguments, the over-opinions, the ‘why are you cutting it like that, man?’ comments…all of it is weirdly comforting. Familiar. Feels like home.

If anything, those little family feuds remind us we’re human, we’re close, and we care enough to disagree passionately over trifle vs bread pudding.

And that’s Tesco’s Christmas ad for the year.

‘That’s what makes it Christmas…’

Enjoy!
