A video by Kfm reminding us that every office has that one colleague who lifts spirits and keeps the team going.
South Africa (28 August 2025) – Every workplace has that one colleague who adds an extra spark to the day. They bring the jokes, the energy, and sometimes even the perfect playlist to amp up everybody’s mood. And when that person is off sick or on leave, things feel just a little… flat.
At this workplace, that’s been the case with Sibs, who usually brings the fire to the Vinyl Classic. A daily showdown where colleagues pit their favourite tracks against each other in a friendly battle for bragging rights. With her off sick, Rameez has been bravely stepping in. But let’s just say, the Vinyl Classic scoreboard has not been playing his tune.
In fact, in a recent round, Rameez found himself up against Darren, not just a colleague, but the undisputed champ. The video told the whole story. We see Rameez looking theatrically heartbroken after another loss, while Darren comforts him like a big brother.
It’s all in good fun, of course, but it highlights something bigger we can all relate to. When a favourite colleague is away, the office dynamics shift. The jokes don’t land quite the same, the rhythm feels off, and even something as light-hearted as a music battle suddenly feels tougher.
Sometimes work is so much more than work, but a space for banter, friendly rivalry, and those little shared moments that make work feel less like work. Think about a time you had to go to work knowing that your work bestie took some time off. You just know it won’t feel the same.
Until their return, the battles will go on, some won, some lost, but always with the kind of laughter that makes colleagues feel more like family.
