It could only be in South Africa where you experience the unique, charming chaos of perfectly unbothered farm animals casually joining the morning commute.
Amanzimtoiti, South Africa (04 November 2025) – There are some things that are truly unique to South Africa and farm animals casually roaming the streets among morning traffic is one of them.
A light-hearted video captured by Jenny Rossouw showed a herd of cows causing a traffic jam in Amanzimtoti, strolling past motorists as they went about their business, clearly unbothered by the chaos they created along the way.
Despite causing a traffic jam as commuters were delayed in getting to their different appointments, the Toti people have come to know to take it easy and appreciate these hoofed beauties. Some even admitted that taking it slow to enjoy the “moo-ment” was the best kind of traffic there was!
“I would take this type of traffic jam any day above those on highways where you sit for hours on end. And for those negative Nancys, chill,” shared Jenny Rossouw, who posted the video.
The video has gained much traction and adoration on Facebook, with many viewers and residents sharing funny commentary on the unique South African reality of sharing our neighbourhoods with animals – a quirk that truly makes the Mzansi experience special.
“The best traffic jam,” said Jade Bust.
“Sometimes it’s horses, and sometimes it’s cows! Either way, enjoy the moo-ment,” wrote Stompie Botes.
“They call that Zululand Robots,” joked Rentia Stoltz.
So, if you ever happen to find yourself stuck in traffic in Amanzimtoti, just remember: it might not be a broken traffic light, but a leisurely, four-legged pedestrian committee deciding it’s their turn to rule the road.
