A Harley Davidson store in Cape Town put a police vehicle parked near their showroom on sale as a prank. The Police Captain saw it trending on social media and personally delivered a letter in response…

Charl Bester, a Harley Davidson store employee at Harley Davison Tyger Valley used a Police car parked near his show room as the perfect Christmas prank.

The Police Vehicle had parked in the space as a deterrent to criminals through visible policing but the way the vehicle had parked, made it look like it was also on sale as well… so Bester decided to create a “funny” post on his personal facebook doing exactly that, putting the vehicle on sale!

Bester pointed out a couple of highlights and featured accessories but never expected the post to actually be seen by the Captain of Bellville SAPS!

Highlights

  • Steel Canopy
  • Flashy Lights
  • One Lady Owner

Featured Accessories

  • Hand Held Radio “On the Go”
  • Park where you want stripes and badges
  • CB radio, Air Conditioned, Power Steering
  • Full Service History
  • Rev Limiter Hit only once

Captain TJ Englebrecht, sector commander for Bellville, saw the post and decided to hand deliver a letter in response to the store putting the car on sale, specifically pointing out the “Rev Limiter Hit only once” comment.

On behalf of Bellville SAPS I would like to thank you and your staff for the cheerful advertisement we have received.

It shows us that our presence was noticed and appreciated by the public in the festive season where we endeavored to keep all shoppers safe from crime (even people buying Harleys).

I would however like to point out than even though our vehicle “hit its rev limiter only once”, it’s still once more than a Harley Davidson could do.

Thank you for all your continued support and may you have a prosperous 2017!!

We absolutely love the awesome response and the holiday spirit. Thank you SAPS for keeping us safe and having such an awesome sense of humour too!
