James takes a worldwide pop hit and turns it into a fun, South African version, giving fans a new way to sing along while laughing at his clever twist.

South Africa (17 October 2025) – South Africans have once again shown why their sense of humour is unmatched, thanks to James Sweetnam, who’s now playfully being called “Justin van Bieber” online.

He uploaded a video that had people doing double takes. Not just because of his resemblance to pop star Justin Bieber, but also because of what he did next.

In the clip, James takes Bieber’s hit “What Do You Mean?” and gives it a twist, singing it in Afrikaans as “Wat bedoel jy?” The video has racked up over 11,000 likes, and the comments section quickly became a hub of playful banter. Social media users flooded the post with jokes about his Bieber-like looks. Others celebrated the humour, calling it another reason to love South Africa, while some simply marvelled at how much he actually resembles the pop star.

Fans have also been hyping up his musical twist. Turning a global hit into a local version that’s both funny and clever shows James’ creativity.

The funniest part, of course, is how people have run wild in the comments. Joking, laughing, and even making up new names for him. The reaction proves that it’s not just the song or the look that entertains, but the way the community interacts and plays along.
