International pop-star Seal, was so blown away by a street performer that he asked to join her in an impromptu performance… and then asked her to open his Manchester show!

The Kiss From a Rose star was in Manchester for a sold-out gig and caused a stir after venturing out into the city centre, performing with street busker Poppy Waterman-Smith who he noticed in Piccadilly Gardens.

They played a number of Bob Marley covers as well as Kiss From A Rose with a huge crowd gathering in the gardens and the clips going viral on social media.

However, even after performing his best known hit Kiss From A Rose with him, the dream did not end there for 23 year-old Poppy with the star making her the offer of a lifetime.

The award winning pop star then invited her to play to a packed-out crowd of more than 2,000 people as his warm-up act.

The 53 year-old star, now based in California, told the audience to huge applause: “I was on a walkabout today and heard the dulcet tones of this beautiful lady.

“She was busking down town so I’m bringing her to you from the streets of your very own Manchester” before she played four of her own songs and a cover of Bob Marley’s Redemption Song.

Poppy, who lives in Blackley, described the whole day as a “surreal whirlwind” but now hopes it may help catapult her own career.

She said: “I still feel a bit numb really like it hasn’t sunk in because it all happened so quickly.”

“But obviously it was an absolute dream come true.”

“He is one of my parent’s favourite artists so for me to be able to play with him and then support him, with my mum watching, was absolutely incredible.”

“He was just such a lovely person.”

We’re certain that this is not the last time we’ll hear from Poppy Waterman-Smith and look forward to more of her amazing music.
