A South African gospel song by Master KG has become a global sensation and has the world dancing through the pandemic; Jerusalema is a hit!

Global (28 July 2020) – Master KG’s song Jerusalema has become a global dancing challenge. Every week, we see a new video trending online of a group dancing to the now smash hit. The song first premiered on YouTube in December 2019.

Master KG is a 24-year-old rising star who comes from Calais Village, Limpopo. He released his first song “Skeleton Move” and it too is starting to do well. Black Coffee even received the song as a request at one of his gigs recently.

“Music Doesn’t Need Visa To travel And Music it Doesn’t Matter Where You Come From..and the type of music u do. It’s Possible To be heard all over the world. Just Believe In Your Self And Work Hard And Respect your work” – Master KG

It is unclear how the song ended up becoming so popular but we love seeing just how much joy it is bringing people during the lockdown period. It is now a dance challenge on TikTok and other social media platforms.

One fan of the challenge commented that the song has become a universal anthem of joy. “This song and the dance steps just gives me so much joy with the way it’s become a universal anthem”.

We love that groups and individuals are taking part in the challenge and that it is bringing joy to the whole world. Take a look at some of the videos shared online to date.

According to this video (and high praise from Master KG himself), it is the original for the choreography. It was first uploaded in February 2020 by the group who live in Angola.

You will be able to find hundreds of videos on all platforms just search for Jerusalema or Jerusalema Dance and they pop up. So if you needed a reason to get dancing, we challenge you to join in on the fun!
