Imagine seeing 150 Ellen DeGeneres’s at once! Well a group of South African’s dressed up as the talk show host for the Cricket and had an absolute blast!
A group of South Africans, well actually 150 South Africans to be exact, showed their love for Ellen DeGeneres recently at a local cricket match. South African’s are notorious for dressing up at sporting events like the cricket so it is no surprise to see groups dressed in these funky costumes, especially at the Pink One Day International.
The group got all dressed up in blonde wigs, jackets and sneakers. They danced like Ellen too. They took selfies and had an absolute blast. This was the most Ellen’s to be in one place at one time.
The stunt was caught on camera and even got the attention of DeGeneres herself, who chose the video as the best user submission content on her own version of YouTube… called ‘EllenTube’.
The group used the hashtag #iAmEllen to promote their fun day and MNET decided to jump on board and sponsor a giveaway for anyone using the hashtag.
The competition prize is a trip to Los Angeles to visit the Ellen Show with a friend or partner in May.
“Fancy dress is a big deal at cricket matches. 150 of us – people of all ages, shapes, races, backgrounds and sizes – all got together last Saturday to dress up as Ellen to celebrate our real superhero.”
“We even convinced the TV channel that airs the Ellen Show in South Africa to run a competition for one lucky viewer and a partner to attend a taping of the show in May. Here’s hoping that we will be in studio in a few months’ time. #iAmEllen”
