Super Santa is touring the Free State, Northern Cape and North West, spreading festive cheer and celebrating the spirit of SPAR’s Heartland.

South Africa (05 December 2025) – Somewhere between a Free State sunrise and a Northern Cape gravel road, a rumour has been swirling. A good one. Word is there’s a Santa on the loose. And not just any Santa, but a super one!

He goes by Super Santa, and he’s not waiting for Christmas Eve this year. He’s already rolling through South Africa’s Heartland with a squad of Savings Elves who seem suspiciously good at mischief, joy and handing out surprises at exactly the right moment.

The adventure kicked off thanks to SPAR’s new celebration of all things local, all things neighbourly, and all things proudly Heartland. It’s called My Heartland. My SPAR, and it’s less of a campaign and more of a love letter. Because in this part of the country, SPAR isn’t just a shop where you grab milk. It’s the place that cheers for your kid’s first try, sponsors the school fête, buys from your cousin’s farm, and knows exactly how you like your boerewors.

From 1 to 22 December, Super Santa will be visiting 72 SPAR stores across the Free State, the Northern Cape and the North West. Think aisle-side dance-offs, unexpected giveaways, tiny humans squealing in delight, and adults remembering what magic feels like. For families, it’s a chance to meet a Santa who doesn’t sit still, who high-fives like a champion and who seems genuinely thrilled to meet every single person he comes across.

Behind all the glitter, SPAR’s message remains the same. This is a brand woven into its communities. The food relief drives, the youth programmes, and the support for local producers all form part of a bigger story. A story about a Heartland that might not always make headlines, but quietly makes South Africa gentler, kinder and braver.

So if you spot a flash of red zooming past your local SPAR, don’t worry, you’re not imagining things. That’s just Super Santa making his rounds, proving once again that Christmas spirit isn’t delivered. It’s shared.
