We all need a helping hand during the busyness of the holidays! In a fabulously funny Christmas advert by M&S, one grumpy Dawn French gets to enjoy the fun of the season after the Festive Fairy takes a few tasks off her hands:

Global (24 November, 2024) — M&S have shared a fabulously funny feel-good Christmas advert starring the Festive Fairy and British actress and comedian, Dawn French (who takes on a particularly grumpy role that many of us can relate to).

Exhausted by all the holiday season busyness, Dawn slaps on a smile, telling people she ‘loves Christmas’ when, in reality, all she wants to do is put her feet up and maybe have a good cry into her eggnog. In fact, she’s already wearing her pyjamas underneath her winter coat in anticipation of a little rest!

But a pair of helping hands are not far away. In fact, they’re in a box of decorations, and they come with wings!

Much to Dawn’s fright, the Festive Fairy has picked her as the person to help this year in an effort to show her how much fun the holidays can be.

Fairy invites all Dawn’s neighbours over for a not-so-little soiree—likely the last thing on Dawn’s mind. But, before Dawn can pass out from dismay, Fairy takes care of all the decorating, feast preparations and Dawn’s makeover with a swish of her wand (which is ‘reasonably impressive’ in Dawn’s books).

Soon, Dawn is beaming, buzzing and having a ball with all her neighbours (but not without a little commentary those with a dry sense of humour will love).

In fact, by the height of the evening, she’s even considering herself a ‘people’s person’.

It’s a reminder that even those of us feeling the most Grinch-like can have our frowns turned upside down when we get a little help from our friends, and that the magic of sharing is often well-worth the effort!
