Just when we thought the Bryanston Red Wall saga had peaked, a hot new player has stepped into the spotlight… Tabasco has officially entered the chat.

Johannesburg, South Africa (06 July 2025) – Just when we thought the Bryanston Red Wall saga couldn’t get any stranger (or more entertaining), a spicy new twist has taken centre stage. And this time, it’s all thanks to the iconic hot sauce brand that’s decided to quite literally fire things up.

Yes, Tabasco has entered the conversation.

A few days ago, the Good Things Guy reported on the curious case of the bright red wall that appeared on the corner of Grosvenor and Bryanston Drive. It was bold, bizarre and completely unexplained. Theories were flying in all directions… from political campaigns to new developments, football feuds and even an elaborate art piece.

There were jokes, frustration, memes and even a R50,000 reward for guessing who’s behind the mystery. For a static bit of concrete, the red wall managed to steal the spotlight across Johannesburg’s northern suburbs.

But the plot has officially thickened. And spiced up.

A whole stash of Tabasco bottles and branded merch appeared, neatly placed for the public to help themselves. Free hot sauce, from an equally hot campaign.

And just like that, the Red Wall went from being a mystery to a moment.

So, is this all a Tabasco campaign? Honestly… we don’t think so. There’s been no official confirmation, no bold announcement and certainly no traditional advertising. But whoever’s behind this wall, whether it’s a brand, a clever agency, a development or a brilliant bit of brand hijacking, deserves serious kudos for upping the ante.

The internet, of course, has exploded again.

“This is absolutely awesome 👌🏻.”

“I have to say, awesome marketing TABASCO, I am proud to say I was the last person to get the two aprons this morning. All by chance as I was doing some street photography in the area.”

“Nice… Can’t wait for all those ‘karen’s’ to take back the negativity and backtrack over the colour of this wall now that they might get a freebie 🤣🤣🤣”

“Pro marketing right here, Mad Men would be impressed. “Im seeing red” that I missed the Tabasco vibes…seriously I eat Tabasco on vahnilla icecream….im huge fan. loving this teaser campaign!!!”

It’s marketing disruption at its best… cheeky, low-fi and community-driven. No big reveal just yet, but the joy lies in the journey. The Red Wall has become a real talking point, a guessing game and a bit of unexpected joy on the morning school run.

And now, it’s offering free condiments. Name another campaign doing the most with the absolute least.

The official reveal is still set for 15 July, but with Tabasco now in the mix, the anticipation has hit boiling point.

Whatever’s cooking behind this campaign, we’re here for it.
