While filming a video in Cape Town, Australian singer James Johnston couldn’t resist the urge to include a group of children who had been joyfully dancing along to his trendy song. The result? Pure magic!

Cape Town, South Africa (02 June 2025) – We talk (and write) about music’s ability to powerfully transcend all kinds of barriers that attempt to keep us apart in society, and Australian singer James Johnston got to experience this for himself during a recent visit to Cape Town!

While filming on the streets of the Mother City, the Country is for Me hitmaker noticed a group of children watching and dancing along with him and was inspired to include them in the video production.

James shared a glimpse of the spontaneous and heartwarming footage on his social media pages, showing the overjoyed youngsters soaking up every little bit of their 15 minutes of fame as they danced and sang along to Country is for Me, effortlessly showcasing music’s ability to not just entertain and bring joy but unite, too!

“I love that in this moment there is no politics, no religion, no race, just pure joy and connection shared through music,” reflected James.

“Sometimes I get caught up in all the things that I have to do in my ‘career’, trying to write the next hit, the best way to promote my song… But moments like this remind me of why I love music. Music brings people together!”

His beautiful sentiment resonated deeply with South Africans, who flooded the comments section with their own touched reactions.

James, upon this week receiving a Bok Radio FM award, further added that the love he’s felt for his song and his music in South Africa has been absolutely incredible. In his own, touching words:

“Thank you for making this Aussie boy feel so welcomed halfway across the world!”
