If you enjoy nature with a touch of adrenaline, you’ll be thrilled about the Golden Gate Highlands National Park’s newest seven-stage adventure.

 

Free State, South Africa (17 August 2026) – There’s a thrilling new way to take in the beauty of the Golden Gate Highlands National Park!

This weekend, South African National Parks (SANParks) launched the seven-cable and platforms zipline adventure at its national park in the Free State.

The Golden Gate Zipline journey lasts for about an hour and takes you across all seven cables and platforms. The journey starts at approximately 1300 metres above sea level and ends around 1200 metres above sea level. Each of the seven levels come with stunning scenery of the national park, with the longest line stretching out for 650 metres.

The zipline adds to the many attractions of the park including the Kgodumodumo Dinosaur Interpretation Centre, stunning drives and accommodation, game and bird watching, abseiling, horse riding, as well as many hiking and walking trails.

The rate for the new zipline experience is set at R650 per person and is open to all visitors age six and older. The maximum weight limit is 120kg.

Golden Gate Zipline operates daily from 09:00 to 16:00, with the last tour departing at 15:00.
