A dog trapped for days in a deep hole was finally brought out to safety thanks to the swift actions of the Johannesburg SPCA’s Inspector Diale.
Johannesburg, South Africa (10 September 2025) – For days, one poor doggy had found itself stuck in a large hole deep below the ground after a nasty fall.
Despite the community’s greatest efforts to help him out and onto levelled ground, there was just no winning… until a glimmer of hope came in the form of the dedication and improvisation of a Johannesburg SPCA Inspector who didn’t hesitate to respond as soon as he was informed about the poor animal’s predicament.
On Monday, 8 September, Senior Inspector Diale had his hands full trying to rescue the dog.
The SPCA confirmed that Inspector Diale managed to get down into the hole and safely remove the old boy and urged the community and council to close the hole, as another animal or child could fall in and get hurt.
“The old boy is safely back at the JSPCA, and our medical team is monitoring him.”
Social media users were moved by the furry boy’s ordeal, sending him well wishes and thanking all involved in helping a defenceless animal in its hour of need.
Now in the safe hands of a dedicated team that works hard to protect animals, to improve animal welfare standards, educate local communities about animal care, and to re-home stray and abandoned dogs and cats, we hope this doggo fully recuperates and finds a place to call home soon.
Thanks go out to Inspector Diale, an animal hero who never gave up until the boy was rescued!
