Clarice Bester broke down in the middle of nowhere, a fear that she has carried with her forever, but thankfully she was put at ease by two helpful cops.
Ladysmith, South Africa – The mood in South Africa has been very tense over the last few weeks. For Clarice Bester, having one of her fears become a reality, didn’t quite help.
Clarice often drives 40km from town in Ladysmith to the farm where she lives with her husband. She has always feared breaking down before reaching either destination.
“Today the thing I’ve dreaded driving 40km into and out of town to the farm happened… I got a flat tire!!! There I was, hubby 21km away, on my knees (in a dress) trying to lower my spare wheel from underneath our vehicle…
It went, but it went slow… and then a kind gentleman, only known to me as Ross stopped, but not knowing how the ins and outs of my car works, it was a bit of a struggle.”
She sat by tense at the idea of being stuck there when all of a sudden, two cops stopped to check if everything was ok.
“The situation, however, changed when these two policemen stopped, greeted me friendly, and asked if they could assist me! I felt so safe in that moment, and I would like to thank Sargeant Dubazana and Constable Hadebe from the Ladysmith Precinct for their kindness.
They did not see my colour, they saw me, someone in need. I did not see their colour… I saw two gentlemen, ready to do all they could to help me!
We have had some of the worst days in South Africa these past few weeks, and many stories coloured with corruption. Please share this one as an inspiration!”
What was expected to be a stressful situation, turned into one filled with love! Clarice was put at ease by the two cops who were only there to do their jobs. Clarice thanked them but wanted to share the story so that they could get the recognition they deserved.
