10 Masikhule charity swimmers will join Guinness World Record holder, Howard Warrington, on his official 20km qualifier swim from Gordon’s Bay to Rooi Els to ensure over 2,000 children receive nutritious daily meals.
Western Cape, South Africa (08 September 2025) – Masikhule is turning 20 this month! To commemorate this special milestone and anniversary, a courageous team of 10 ocean swimmers, including Masikhule Founder, Léanne Keet, will take on the wild waters of False Bay.
Together, they will be making waves and impact, swimming 20 kilometres from Gordon’s Bay to Rooi Els. They’ll be joining none other than Guinness World Record holder, Howard Warrington, on his official 20km qualifier swim, as he trains for his ultimate challenge: the inaugural False Bay Challenge event in 2026.

This epic swim is not just about endurance. It’s about raising vital funds and awareness for the thousands of children and educators supported by Masikhule.
Masikhule is a nonprofit organisation that empowers women to be Early Childhood Development (ECD) educators. This month, the charity celebrates 20 years of making a positive impact within the marginalised communities in the Helderberg area of the Western Cape.
All funds raised will go towards Masikhule’s nutrition pillar, ensuring over 2,200 young children continue to receive a nutritious daily meal.
Imagine the comfort and hope a child and their family feel knowing that, no matter the hardships they face at home, a nourishing meal awaits to begin their day. A meal that provides the base for the brain’s development and functioning, directly impacting the child’s development of learning skills as well as social and emotional abilities. That is the impact this 20km swim is aiming to sustain.
The swim is planned for 27 September, weather dependent. To help support the swimmers, celebrate 20 years and invest in the future, consider leaving a donation on Masikhule’s GivenGain campaign.
