Global (23 October 2026) – It’s another action-packed week in sport, and there’s plenty for South African fans to look forward to! From Mamelodi Sundowns’ mission to keep their CAF Champions League dreams alive to the Springbok Women taking on Ireland on home soil, the next few days promise big moments. Here’s what to look out for this week!

Mamelodi Sundowns’ African Mission

Mamelodi Sundowns return to Loftus Versfeld on Friday night knowing there’s no room for mistakes as they face Angola’s Wiliete SC in the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.

The first leg ended in a goalless draw, leaving everything to play for in Pretoria. With home advantage on their side, the defending champions will be eager to book their place in the group stage. Coach Miguel Cardoso will also be hungry for another continental triumph, so expect Sundowns to come out looking for a big result.

Team SA Gets Ready to Race

It’s time to pull on the green and gold! Cycling South Africa has selected 25 riders to represent the country at the 2026 CAC African Road Championships in Kisumu, Kenya.

The squad includes men and women competing in the Elite, Under-23 and Junior categories. Eleven riders will also compete in the individual time trial, alongside the road race. It’s a chance for South Africa’s cyclists to test themselves against the continent’s best and bring home some silverware.

Springbok Women Take on Ireland

The Springbok Women are gearing up for a big test against Ireland in Cape Town on Saturday in the first of two WXV Global Series Tests.

There will be a few changes to the team that beat Spain earlier this month, including a new captain, two new props and a new wing. Sizophila Solontsi takes over the captaincy from the injured Babalwa Latsha, while Yonela Ngxingolo could reach a major milestone by becoming only the second South African woman to earn 50 Test caps.

International Squash Stars Head to Joburg

Squash fans can look forward to some exciting action as the Assore Joburg Open gets underway at Parkview Squash Centre.

Egyptian players lead the seedings, with Mohamed Sharaf topping the men’s draw and Nour Megahed leading the women’s field. But South Africa has strong contenders of its own, with Dewald van Niekerk seeded second in the men’s competition and Helena Hudson fourth in the women’s draw.

And that’s your sporting line-up for the week! Whether you’re backing Sundowns, cheering on the Bok Women, following Team SA’s cyclists or heading to the squash courts, there’s no shortage of action to keep you entertained.

Pick your favourite, get behind our athletes and enjoy the sporting ride!
