Cape Town has been added to a Big 7 Media list once again, this time for being one of the top 50 ‘Most Festive Cities’ in the world!

Cape Town, South Africa – The bells are starting to jingle as the Christmas spirit kicks in, stores are overflowing with decorations. While South Africa doesn’t get your typical Hallmark Christmas, because we are in the middle of summer, the spirit is all the same!

1.5 million people from 60 countries take surveys and vote for the best travel accolades around the world. Big 7 Media share several lists which promote global travel. In the past, we have shared their lists about South Africa including the 5th most “Instagrammable” county in the world and the 2nd sexiest accent.

Two Western Cape Christmas markets recently made the list for best Christmas Markets in the world, these were the Stellenbosch Slow Market and the Franschoek Village Christmas Market.

This year’s Most Festive Cities were ranked on a number of factors, including but not limited to Christmas light displays, local traditions, Christmas markets and previous awards.

Cape Town was listed as 46th on the list.

“It might be near close to being on the polar opposite side of the world as Santa’s Workshop, but that doesn’t stop Cape Town from being one of the most festive cities in the world. Festive lights illuminate Adderley Street while a gigantic tree towers over the Victoria Wharf. Charming Christmas decorations and waterfront views? We’re in.” – Big 7 Media
