DJ Black Coffee is gearing up to grace the promised land of performance venues with South African sounds and will be the first local DJ to play New York City’s Madison Square Garden!

Global (12 September 2023)—The South African DJ known for getting the world on its feet in dance, Black Coffee (Nkosinathi Maphumulo), has a wealth of milestone moments to be proud of in his artistry. From his Grammy award-winning talent to producing credits for some of music’s biggest names, Black Coffee continues to sweeten up SA’s music influence internationally.

And things aren’t slowing down for the artist anytime soon.

Another career highlight for his repertoire is on the agenda—one which will also coincide with a milestone moment for South African music.  Black Coffee is set to headline at none other than Madison Square Garden in New York City; AKA the holy grail of historic live performance venues in the world.

There, the Grammy award-winning musician will become the first South African DJ/Producer to headline at the Gardens, and he’s invited a wealth of other talents to share in the journey with him.

“It’s always been one of my biggest dreams to take this music and sound to the highest level possible and to expose it to the largest audience imaginable and so I’ve dreamt of my [Gardens] debut for many years—it’s finally a reality!” Black Coffee shared of the milestone moment for his music.

Black Coffee’s milestone moment spinning South African sounds is as much for the world as it is for South Africa.

And, given how much international acclaim many local artists have celebrated this year alone (from young up-comers to other talents in the DJ’s playground), it’s safe to say that SA’s name will be in even brighter lights for music’s future eras.
