A proudly South African model search reality show has been released by Netflix, and it focuses on empowering young, local and hopeful models.
South Africa (12 September 2022) – South Africa’s first Netflix reality show is a search for the next international model. The show is available for streaming and is made up of ten binge-worthy episodes. If you love reality shows, this proudly South African one is perfect for you!
The search features a cast of both men and women, with each model pushing themselves to be the next big name in the industry. The prize is an international modelling contract.
The show is presented by international actress and presenter of MODEL, Christia Visser, and three judges make up the panel who will select the winner. The panel includes international model Pieter Black, the late, international fashion designer and owner of De Mil Clothing, Coenraad De Mol and Kholofelo Mabusela, a media professional.
“All contestants are allowed the opportunity to shine above the rest on a multitude of platforms. Their exciting tasks and challenges are centred around elements such as strutting down catwalks, posing for top fashion photographers and appearing in a series of advertising commercials.
They will be mentored and guided on their respective journeys throughout the competition by a team of professional hairstylists, makeup artists and other influential industry executives who will assist them in creating a unique look that will enhance their personal brand qualities to prepare them for each challenge that forms a part of MODEL.”
While the competition is tough, each model is guided through the series with the hopes of empowering them and enhancing their careers beyond the show. Industry experts will share their wisdom on building relationships within the fashion circles, cultivating an effective work ethic and what it takes to grace international magazines and catwalks.
Each episode will be associated with a theme in the world of modelling, such as dealing with designers, fittings, networking or appearing in a runway show. It focuses on elements important to modelling, and after an evaluation, a winner is chosen by the panel of judges.
This isn’t just another cut-throat modelling show as we have come to expect; this series is focused on building up each of the contestants. In the end, they all win thanks to the support of the teams behind them.
MODEL is the first reality competition series after two feature films, “The Recce” and “8” for Cape Town-based production company Man Makes a Picture Productions and is independently produced with Executive Producer, Pieter Black.
It is an Afrikaans local first to be streamed on NETFLIX GLOBAL with 190 countries and 220 million viewers. The series is bilingual and features subtitles for those who are non-Afrikaans speakers.
