This week saw an emotional performance dedicated to a grandmother who is no longer here, a stunning Whitney Houston cover and a baker’s song that will leave you all in tears.

 

Global (14 March 2022) – American Idol, the iconic series that revolutionized the television landscape by pioneering the music competition genre, returned on the 27th of February 2022, and we’ve got the second episode highlights for you!

The show has given a platform to artists like Kelly Clarkson, Adam Lambert, Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood and Jordin Sparks to shine, and this year, the singing competition show that started it all and created countless superstars began its historic 20th season! Yes, 20 years of American Idol.

And even though the series is not currently on South African television or streaming services, the American Idol YouTube channel is stepping up and bringing us so many highlights!

Sam Finelli is a megafan of American Idol. He loves it because it showcases people’s talent that you might not otherwise see on the surface. Sam has autism but he doesn’t like to focus on it because that’s only a small part of him. Music has always been his best friend and though he enjoys his job at the bakery, he hopes for more. Sam’s rendition of Kacey Musgraves’ “Rainbow” leaves the judges and him in tears.
