In a heartwarming display of community spirit, local athletics clubs have come together to support the families of our brave firefighters through a fundraising and essentials care pack drive.

South Africa (28 October 2024) – Local athletics clubs came together to raise funds and collect sanitary items for the children of the hardworking members of the Working on Fire – Kishugu Joint Venture.

The kind and compassionate givers of Pinelands Athletic Club, Hewat Athletic Club, Bredasdorp Athletics Club, and Atlantic Athletic Club rallied to collect R10,000 in cash as well as much-needed sanitary wear and stationery.

These simple yet significant items will go a long way in supporting the families of our local heroes who don’t think twice when it comes to facing ravaging fires to save those in danger.

At the end of the year Working on Fire collects and packs care packages as a token of appreciation for the children of their hardworking firefighters.

These selfless individuals, who risk their lives to protect our communities, often go unnoticed. By supporting their families, such efforts honour their sacrifices and recognise their needs as parents and guardians raising families outside the call of duty.

“These packages include essential items such as sanitary towels, hygiene products, and stationery to support their well-being.

“We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Pinelands Athletic Club, Hewat Athletic Club, Bredasdorp Athletics Club, and Atlantic Athletic Club. Your generosity makes a real difference, and we are truly grateful,” Working on Fire said.
