Elite racers claimed titles, but the true magic of the 2026 Cape Town Cycle Tour was cheering fans, iconic views, and the energy of everyone on the route.
Cape Town, South Africa (09 March 2026) – South Africa’s most iconic cycling event, the Cape Town Cycle Tour, delivered an unforgettable morning with riders taking on the stunning 109km route through the Mother City. While Lisa Bone and Ryan Gibbons crossed the finish lines as the women’s and men’s champions, it was a celebration of community and the simple joy of being on a bike.
Lisa Bone, the Enza Construction Cycle Nation rider, won in the women’s 78km race, edging out Daria Pravilova and Kate Courtney.
“I actually thought about attacking on the kicker climbing out of Camps Bay, but the group was rolling through so well that I knew they would catch me.”

On the men’s side, Ryan Gibbons took the win on Helen Suzman Boulevard in Green Point, cementing his homecoming after years competing in Europe. He might have celebrated a bit early, but the victory was hard earned.
“I may have celebrated a bit early… But taking the victory is so special. It’s great to be back here in South Africa, to be part of the local cycling community again. It has grown and strengthened so much in the last decade. Winning the Cape Town Cycle Tour is massive for any South African, and for me in particular, because it was the big South African race missing from my palmarès.”

Beyond the winners, the Cape Town Cycle Tour continues to shine as a true festival of cycling. Fans cheered from the roadside, waving South African flags and supporting loved ones tackling the route.
A DJ booth along the course added energy, giving riders a chance to stretch and even bust a few dance moves before getting back into the saddle.
Not forgetting the ocean views and iconic mountain backdrops. The participants experienced some of the world’s most beautiful cycling terrain.
It was a beautiful day to be a cyclist in Cape Town!
