Chic Mamas shoppers and carers raised a fashionable fortune this winter; a testament to fashion that goes further than a few compliments.

South Africa (01 September 2023) — As we hold thumbs for winter’s swift end and stretch for spring’s cooler clothes, Chic Mamas Do Care is celebrating a big winter win and a fashionable fortune their shoppers and carers raised during the season.

Thanks to the support of people sharing and buying preloved pieces and communities concerned with making their fashion choices impactful, Chic Mamas Do Care was able to send winter off with a donation of R200 000 for organisations supporting all kinds of good.

Not your average boutique, Chic Mamas Do Care is a network of wholesome fashion havens and charity shops scattered across SA where preloved pieces get to do more good than they ever would laying dormant in a closet. Going strong for over a decade, when pieces are donated and resold, the profits go to myriad projects from literacy centres to art therapy intervention and Eco-Warrior pursuits.

Their recent fashionable donation of R200 000 headed off to the Life Matters Foundation Literacy Centre, The Butterfly Qrt Project, The Earthchild Eco-Warrior Program and ABC for Life Literacy Project.

So, as we stand ready to welcome spring in the coming weeks and some of us consider refreshing our spring wardrobes, consider shops like this or other charity stores where your ‘new’ threads can impact lots of lives and the planet with all the good a regular price tag doesn’t afford.

In the meantime, Chic Mamas have their sights set on helping the Vrygrond Community Library to update its facilities to become a haven for preschool children aged 5 and under. You can find out more here.
