The Stellenbosch University Choir is celebrating reaching 1 million views for a rendition of The Greatest Showman’s “Never Enough”.
Stellenbosch, South Africa (27 June 2022) – The Stellenbosch University Choir have celebrated 1 million views for their rendition of ‘Never Enough’ from the Greatest Showman.
The Stellenbosch University Choir was founded in 1936 under the baton of William Morris. After him, various conductors established the ensemble as an influential South African choir.
The choir, an ensemble of approximately 80 – 100 voices, has won international acclaim through performances, concert tours, and participation in prestigious festivals and competitions.
And only a few of the students in the group actually study music!
The University choir is one of the most celebrated in South Africa, with various awards from around the world… at the World Choir Games in Bremen (2004), they won the category for Mixed Youth Choirs. In Graz, Austria (2008), they won the category for Musica Sacra. In July 2010, the Stellenbosch University Choir took part in the 6th World Choir Games in China and won the categories Contemporary Music and Mixed Choirs. The choir won the latter category with 95.75 points – 8 points more than the choir that came second and with the highest score of the whole competition.
The video was recorded on the 17th of September 2021 at the Oude Libertas Amphitheatre in Stellenbosch. It showcases a popular song from the musical The Greatest Showman, and we get goosebumps every time we hear it. Now the video has crossed the 1 million views mark and gathered 1,146,033 views at the time of writing this article.
