The moving performance by Siphamandla Arts Group at Cape Town’s Greenmarket Square has the internet chopping onions.
Cape Town, South Africa (16 November 2025) – South African music, dance, drama and poetry group Siphamandla Arts recently took the streets of Cape Town with a moving performance that has since gone viral online.
While busking at Greenmarket Square, the group put on an emotional performance of Thanda Choir’s ‘Ndilimele’ (I’m Hurt).
Singers Sinawo and Thina led the group performance that gave us goosebumps.
It’s even more moving once you understand the isiXhosa lyrics.
At a time when the fight against GBV and femicide is at an all-time high in the country, when hundreds upon thousands of women are standing up together in solidarity to say “no more,” these lyrics resonate.
“I am hurt
You played with me
I gave you the true me
I gave you my all
But you played with that chance
I am hurt
What kind of people does love choose?
Who just love choose?”
The original performance uploaded to Facebook has gained over 299,000 views, and the shorter clip that shared the lyrics for the Thanda Choir original song, has racked up over 1.3 million views.
