Hero in my Hood has challenged Capetonians to help reach 2000 books for Santa Shoebox recipients, Joburg raised 1000 books – Can Cape Town double it?
Cape Town, South Africa (01 November 2022) – Hero in my Hood has been educating youth in a fun and creative way by illustrating educational activity books about common social issues. They have been involved in placing books inside the Santa Shoebox Project’s pledged boxes. The team have received a donation of 1000 books in Johannesburg; now they are hoping to assist Cape Town with 2000 books.
For children as young as six, the best way to learn valuable lessons is through fun, engaging and educational activities. Hero in my Hood was founded to help teach lessons while keeping things fun.
Hero in my Hood was founded in 2016 by Mandy Lomberg and Kate Boyes. In their first-ever newsletter, the team shared the exciting news about the donation that helped them supply 1000 books to Santa Shoebox in Johannesburg. They are challenging Capetonians to help them hit 2000.
“Each year the Santa Shoebox Project collects and distributes personalised gifts of essential items and treats for underprivileged children throughout South Africa and Namibia.
For the past 5 years Hero in my Hood has managed to get books sponsored for placement in the Santa Shoeboxes.
This year to date, 1 000 books have already been packed in Johannesburg. These books were sponsored by Felix and Moni Spreiter from Switzerland.
You can help us put a further 2 000 books into boxes on Cape Town’s packing day.
One book costs only R12.
Sponsor 1, 10, 100 – as many as you can – and we will make sure that they are packed and distributed.”
The Cape Town boxes are being packed from the 3rd to the 5th of November. They have already raised enough for 241 books. You can be a hero by sponsoring their various projects via the website here.
