The resilient children of the Bhambayi community have dedicated their Fridays (from 25 October to 15 December) to running for their fellow peers in need. For every kilometre they run, they’re raising funds for uniforms and stationery for 84 orphans and vulnerable children.
Bhambayi, South Africa (04 November 2024) – As the year draws to a close, a small community in Bhambayi, KZN, is filled with hope.
Its children, often burdened by life’s hardships, are lacing up their shoes, not for play but for a noble cause.
As part of the ReStory Sizokwenza campaign, these children are clocking up the kilometres by running outdoors in their community every Friday from 25 October to 15 December to raise funds for uniforms and stationery for 84 orphans and vulnerable children.
Not only are they reaping the benefits of physical activity but making a difference for children in need with every kilometre they run.
“We are so impressed at the commitment, enthusiasm and joy we see each Friday when we run together,” the organisation shares.
Get fit for summer while making a difference!
You can be a part of this extraordinary journey. For every kilometre you run, walk, cycle, paddle, or swim by 15 December – you can donate just R1. Your small act of kindness can make a big difference.
You can also sponsor a child who is running in Bhambayi at R1/km, empowering them to chase their dreams, one step at a time.
You can also visit the BackaBuddy page to support the overall campaign.
ReStory is a nonprofit organisation dedicated to transforming the lives of orphans and vulnerable children.
