The national Sevens team visited Hoërskool Paulus Joubert to answer learners’ questions, share rugby tips and show their appreciation for the community’s support.
Paarl, South Africa (09 October 2026) – The Blitzboks get tons of support from South African sport fans, and a recent school visit gave them a chance to return some of that love.
The national Sevens rugby players spent time with learners at Hoërskool Paulus Joubert, answering questions, sharing their experiences and giving the youngsters a closer look at life as an international rugby player.
There was also time to get out onto the field, with the players offering some coaching tips and helping the learners get involved in the action. The visit included gifts for the school community, making it a memorable day for the young rugby fans.
And judging by the players’ reaction, the experience was just as meaningful for them.
In a video shared after the visit, one of the Blitzboks spoke about how special it was to see the support coming from a smaller community.
The players also expressed how much they enjoyed spending time with the community and being reminded of the people cheering them on from home.
For the learners, having members of the national team on their doorstep offered a chance to ask questions, pick up a few rugby pointers and see the people behind the green and gold jerseys up close.
And while the Blitzboks spend much of their time travelling, training and competing against some of the best Sevens teams in the world, visits like these bring them back to the communities that help fuel their journey.
It’s also a reminder that growing the game starts long before a young player pulls on a national-team jersey. It begins with a question or a few tips from a professional they’ve watched on television.
For schoolkids at Hoërskool Paulus Joubert, it was a chance to learn from the best and perhaps leave the field with a little extra inspiration of their own.
