The Rustenburg Choir recreated the ‘Mike + the Mechanics’ song to remind South Africans to reach out to those nearest to them.

Rustenburg, South Africa (25 September 2022) – The Rustenburg Choir is going viral again… this time for their stunning rendition of Mike + The Mechanics “Living Years”.

The school choir first went viral in 2019 for their rendition of “Bohemian Rhapsody” and then again with their cover of Coldplay’s “fix you “… and now the choir is back and giving us all the feels.

‘The Living Years’ remains one of the greatest and most moving power ballads ever made. The song was written in 1989 from a perspective of a son losing his father while having a conflicted relationship but later realising that their relationship was actually much stronger.

I wasn’t there that morningWhen my Father passed awayI didn’t get to tell himAll the things I had to say
I think I caught his spiritLater that same yearI’m sure I heard his echoIn my baby’s new born tearsI just wish I could have told him in the living years
Say it loud (say it loud), say it clear (oh say it clear)
You can listen as well as you hear
It’s too late (it’s too late) when we die (oh when we die)
To admit we don’t see eye to eye

The Rustenburg Choir put the arrangement together to remind South Africans to reach out to those nearest to them.

“To make peace and tell them you love them while you still have the chance.”
