The Masinyusane Development Organisation is making significant strides in early childhood development by empowering educators to teach the isiXhosa language effectively through their “Train the Trainer” workshops.
Nelson Mandela Bay, South Africa (14 November 2024) – Language is such a big part of many people’s identity, cultural heritage and quite literally the primary way we communicate with others.
Seeking to help educators and early childhood development trainers assist young pupils in mastering the isiXhosa language in particular, the Masinyusane Development Organisation facilitated a “Train the Trainer” workshop at the Masifunde Learner Development.
A resounding success, the workshop helped trainers and educators learn how to teach the Zazi Izandi programme through culturally relevant teaching strategies.
This initiative helps learners master the foundational sounds of the isiXhosa language, setting them up for success in reading and writing in what is a mother tongue for many of them in the Eastern Cape region.
From hands-on phonics lessons to culturally relevant teaching strategies, trainers left the workshop equipped with valuable tools to make a real impact in their communities and give children the self-confidence to prosper.
“We’re excited to see how these newly trained educators will help shape the future of Zazi Izandi,” the Masinyusane Development Organisation said.
