Massimo’s pizzeria in Hout Bay are adpating and becoming a soup kitchen so that their employees can continue to work and they can help the community too!
Hout Bay, South Africa (01 July 2021) – Massimo’s – a pizzeria in the Western Cape – have set yet another goal to support their staff and community at the same time!
Massimo’s has the “best pizza in Africa” and even better hearts! Whenever there is a need, Massimo and his team come up with a way to give back.
Massimo and Tracy are a fantastic couple who opened an Italian restaurant in Hout Bay called Massimo’s in 2009. They are incredibly passionate about food, their clients and South Africa!
They started a “pay-it-forward” campaign at the beginning of 2015 to make it easier for the Hout Bay community to give back. While they were open, Massimo’s clients could buy one or more R10 ‘virtual’ slices of pizza, and for every six slices sold, Massimo’s would deliver an entire pizza to a local charity or institution.
Like every business, they were forced to close their doors during the first lockdown. That wouldn’t stop Massimo from paying it forward though and he went on to donate 100 pizzas to fire victims in July 2020 as well as raising over R200,000 to go towards community support in 2020.
Now with the third hard lockdown, their business is being pushed to adapt once again. This time however, they are planning to convert the restaurant into a soup kitchen. With the help of donations, they will be able to keep their staff employed and feed the community through the winter chill that is still to come.
To lend a helping hand, you can reach out to them via their social media platforms.
