The Plus1 Festival happened over this passed weekend in Franschhoek and it celebrated love and art in the best way. Love was definitely in the air!

Over the weekend in Franschhoek, at a quaint estate called ‘La Paris’, the first ever Plus1 Festival took place. The festival was designed to celebrate love, especially the love of event founders Greg Lipton and Juanne-pierre De Abreu who celebrated their own love and got married at the event. Another couple also celebrated their love by getting engaged surrounded by friends.

We went to the festival to feel the love, listen to the amazing local musicians and view the amazing art. We have this to report back, the event was set in the most beautiful part of Cape Town. Lush green grass rolled out in front of us as we walked towards the main stage.

The festival boasted a great lineup of musical talent like The Kiffness and Goodluck to name a few. There was also a large amounts of Art to view. Sculptures where scattered around the venue as interactive pieces and the grounds housed fun games like giant Jenga and Croquet.

There was a sculpture created out of tiny origami butterflies. It was on perspex panels and spelled out the word ‘Lovers’. We can only imagine the type of hours that went into it.

There were dancer’s dressed as birds and the festival go-ers went all out in terms of fashion for the event. To see more images on the artworks or fashionista’s check out the #plus1festival

We look forward to hearing more about the foundation being created by the festival to support local artists. We wrote about it in our previous Plus1 Festival post here.
