ReStory believes in building strong foundations, and this year has been all about that – building lives, communities, and a brighter future for all. As they reflect on an eventful 2024, they’re reminded that the good they build ultimately builds them, too, and they’re excited to see what the new year brings!
Durban, South Africa (18 December 2024) – While Christmas is a time of special celebration, it also calls for us to reflect on the moments that shaped us and the milestones we reached.
The ReStory Foundation team, a charity which exists to ignite positive cycles of living and giving in the communities in which it operates, kicked off the season in festive spirits by hosting a cracking Christmas Party, which was marked by a morning of absolute fun with over 200 children, volunteers and sponsors and friends from all its programmes.
The organisation also hosted a special caregivers lunch for the caregivers and parents who play an invaluable role in ensuring ReStory fulfils its mission to positively impact lives. Togetherness, music, food, dance, drama, laughter, touching stories and an overall good time was the order of the day.
But the festivities were just the cherry on top of a fantastic year! ReStory’s maths club has been well received by young learners over the past year and culminated with a celebration that had many children asking for it to be hosted daily! A maths club that has kids wanting more? – We’ll cheer to that!
The success of Restory’s power-packed life skills programmes has also planted seeds of foundational learning skills on various topics, including the environment, heritage, hospitality, xenophobia and turning problems into possibilities. A graduation party was hosted for those who will be moving on to the next life skills group next year.
These are just some of the achievements and fun-filled activities that have empowered minds, changed lives, nurtured children, supported families, inspired big dreams and uplifted communities over the past year.
“2024 for us has been a year of building, refining, strengthening and consolidation. Our theme has significantly influenced and shaped our programmes: I CHOOSE TO BUILD: My Life, My Community, My Nation. After journeying with this theme, we can truly attest to these words by Jum Rohn: ‘Whatever good things we build end up building us’,” the ReStory team shares.
“As we all head into the Christmas season we are reminded that in the world of building, the foundation is the most important part. We are grateful that Christmas is an opportunity to consider, celebrate and ponder the baby who offers a firm foundation for the lives we are building.
