South African Independent film ‘Recce’ has won an international film award and the win has made South Africans really proud.
California, United States – South African Independent film ‘Recce’ just won an award at the 10th Idyllwild International film festival in California.
The Recce movie won Best Foreign Feature Drama on Sunday 10 March. The win follows on the heels of a Camerimage nomination where they were nominated for debut feature film cinematography in Poland in November 2018.
The Recce tells the story of a young recce, who is wrongfully declared dead behind enemy lines, must use every resource he has to get home to his distraught wife and family, who are, in turn fighting their own emotional battles.
Lead actor, Greg Kriek was in California to accept the award on behalf of The Recce team. He is currently living in Los Angeles and playing leading roles in feature films. He is also going to star in the Netflix next season of Black Mirror!

The Recce was produced through Cape Town-based production company ‘Man Makes a Picture’ and is the first in a slate of independent features from the company. Their second film, a horror named “8” will be released in 2019.
