Security Officers Save Poor Pup Stuck in a Stormwater Drain!

A little puppy’s distressed cries from deep within a stormwater drain sparked a heartwarming rescue by a team of security officers.

Temple Valley, South Africa (06 May 2025) – One poor little puppy recently found itself stuck in a stormwater drain in Temple Valley in KwaZulu-Natal. Thankfully, a nearby resident managed to hear his cries emanating from the drain and quickly sought help.

While it is unknown how long he’d been stuck inside, a video shared on Facebook by Reaction Unit South Africa shows a team of security officers working together to open a manhole cover to access the drain before calling on the wailing puppy.

It wasn’t long before the little fella ran toward the opening, prompting two officers to help carefully lower a third member into the drain so that he could get to the dog that was safely removed within minutes!

“He appeared healthy and free of injury,” RUSA said.

Working together, quite literally hand-in-hand, these security officers showcased the best of human nature in response to the vulnerability of an innocent animal.

They were lauded as “superhumans” among other praises in a string of over 1,500 comments from inspired viewers of the post, thanking the team for going to great lengths to assist not just people in danger but animals in distress, too.

“Well done, guys. I’m pretty sure that the community is immensely proud of you guys and your achievements. It’s a pleasure and joy to have you amongst us. There’s nothing that your guys will not attempt to do just to save lives, whether it be human beings or animals,” one user commented.
