The social media challenge and the kindness it brings is restoring faith in humanity.

Johannesburg, South Africa (13 December 2022) – A simple social media challenge is gaining momentum in South Africa while inspiring kindness this giving season.

Initially written by Theresa Nell and posted to “I love Fairland” and “I love Fourways”, this simple post is being replicated in community groups around the country.

The idea is simple: ask for help by telling your community what you desperately need this holiday season and then let the magic happen.

What is ONE thing you NEED but cannot afford right now?

Everyone check to see what others say. Maybe you have it and don’t need it or have a connection to get it. Never know who we can help or how we can help each other. Let’s lift each other up this holiday season! All items and services are to be DONATED… NOT SOLD.

Keep in mind that this is for something you NEED not WANT.

Let’s help each other out here!

The kindness in the comments has been so inspiring to watch, totally restoring faith in humanity. Community members have come to the rescue with grocery vouchers, baby formula, free dentist appointments, toys for kids, stationery for school, beds, fridges, couches and even generators to get through loadshedding.

The outpouring of love and ubuntu is a reminder that South Africans have the biggest hearts.
