David Guetta, Akon and Master KG’s latest single of hope “Shine Your Light” was filmed by proudly South African director Kyle White.

South Africa (31 July 2021) – In June 2021, South African acclaimed music video director, Kyle White directed the music video which is his biggest career opportunity internationally to date, for global hitmakers David Guetta, Akon and Master KG’s latest single of hope “Shine Your Light” which was filmed in the Dominican Republic.

SAMA nominated Kyle was contacted to direct this music video on a Wednesday evening in June, by Master KG’s record label Open Mic Productions and long-time friend, mentor and client Malou. 3 days later, Kyle was on a plane to The Dominican Republic and after extensive paperwork, Covid tests and multiple connecting flights, he landed in Santo Domingo that Friday evening (Saturday morning SA Time) jetlagged and disorientated with no crew, no gear and no confirmed set locations. After touching base with local production crews, Kyle was able to pull this music video off by Sunday evening.

Kyle was aware of the incredible task at hand in completing this music video and experienced anxiety considering the expected short turnaround time. However, Kyle together with the support of Open Mic Productions and Africori took the challenge with full force and the risk paid off producing what will be the biggest, Hollywood status, music video of his career for “Lonely” star, Akon, world-famous DJ David Guetta and global sensation “Jeresulama’s”, Master KG.

On the Sunday, in the Dominican Republic with a local production crew, Kyle filmed the video for “Shine Your Light” with 70% of the cast and crew being Spanish speakers, 3 translators to relay his direction to the Spanish casting crew and a team who managed to pull off the language barrier exceptionally, thus giving us the bright and colourful music video within five days of Kyle’s initial call to take on the job.

In the “Shine Your Light” music video, Kyle captures a feel-good vibe as Akon and Master KG ride around in a ‘slahla’ (drop-top car) and sing out their message of hope. The pair stop to dance with the locals and have fun in a festival themed setting as the flags of the countries of the world fly above them. Not to mention legendary DJ Icon and hitmaker, David Guetta can also be spotted having fun, smiling and dancing in this momentous video Kyle’s work in “Shine Your Light”  has been praised for its crisp visuals and a nostalgic essence of the incredible energy and good vibes South African “2010 Soccer World Cup” made South Africa all feel.

Kyle has directed music videos for several South African recording artists including Nasty C, Tellaman and Lady Zamar. His quality work is evident in these local projects and it was only a matter of time before he caught the eye of international tastemakers to recruit him for their global project of Hollywood standard.

Kyle took to Instagram to humbly express his gratitude for the opportunity, his team and his support system for making it possible.

Kyle relays his experience in working on this production – “The shoot seemed like it went by in a flash. It was an exciting, difficult and nerve-wracking experience. Akon and Master KG were both awesome to work with, down-to-earth nice guys, making the process of creating this music video under such stressful circumstances much easier. I grew a lot as a person and as a director. I am so grateful for this opportunity to work with world-class talent on the biggest, Hollywood level, music video of my career to date.”
