South Africa just won the bid to host the 2020 SpaceOps conference. This is yet another good news story for space enthusiasts in SA.
SpaceOps was formed in 1992 to “promote and maintain an international community of space operations experts”. Currently, thirteen space agencies are members of the organisation. SpaceOps also has non-space agency members from academia and industry.
In 2020, South Africa will play host to the 16th SpaceOps Conference. It is estimated that around 600 experts will visit the Western Cape to attend the conference.
The South African National Space Agency (SANSA), Cape Town and the Western Cape Convention Bureau submitted a joint bid to host the conference in Cape Town. They won the bid which means the conference will be taking place at the International Convention Centre.
