A typical afternoon caring for children turned into a moment of pure joy when a delivery truck unexpectedly pulled up with not one but three brand new couches at the Isiaiah 54 Children’s Sanctuary.
Bluff, South Africa (18 March 2025) – The best kind of surprises are those that leave your eyes wide open, glossy with tears of joy, and your heart beating faster than you can gather your thoughts, all in the warmest of ways!
Overcome with emotion and inexplicable joy, was Youandi a volunteer turned integral member of the Isiaiah 54 Children’s Sanctuary.
A normal afternoon spent looking after the children at the home turned into an amazing testimony of the goodness and power of community when the kids excitedly called out her name when they noticed a bakkie parked outside the gate.
Confused, Youandi stepped outside to find a vehicle with a load of not one but three new couches and groceries, leaving her utterly dumbfounded.
“The uncle asked if we ordered the couches, and I’m like, “Uh, no…?”.
“I called mom Glynnis (Founder) and she comes out, and we both thought, ‘Maybe they’ve got the wrong address?’,” details Youandi in a post.
When their confusion left the delivery driver even more confused, he soon called his boss, who confirmed that he was indeed at the right address and that Isiaiah 54 Children’s Sanctuary had been nominated by its lovely supporters to receive the new furniture in a recent giveaway and were selected!
As someone who is familiar with the incredible work this charity does to give vulnerable children a warm and loving home despite its occasional difficult seasons, this surprise will undoubtedly make their space so much more comfortable!
“We REALLY needed new couches, so this was an AMAZING surprise! We’re beyond grateful,” Youandi heartfeltly thanked.
